Overview

In this brief film, we visit Chesterfield Market Place station to commemorate the centenary of George Stephenson's death. Rail enthusiasts and excited schoolboys take a close look at the veteran engines on display, including the Lion, which "once roared on the Liverpool to Manchester run". Before this, we see muddy scenes from a Yorkshire v. Lancashire cross-country motor cycle race at Heywood.
