Notts V. Middlesex and Notts V. New Zealand, 1931
Notts take to the pitch at Trent Bridge - with a guest appearance by the ground staff as the covers go on for rain.
Overview
This attractive amateur footage from June and July 1931 sees play in progress during two matches at Trent Bridge. Glimpses of the Middlesex and New Zealand players heading onto the pitch in their brilliant whites are a treat, as are some close ups of the jovial spectators. The rain-affected second match between Nottinghamshire and New Zealand also features a guest appearance by Trent Bridge ground staff, as the rain starts and the covers go on. Shots of the scoreboard fill in the details, declaring a 100 for George Gunn and a 50 for Arthur Staples when rain stopped play on day one.
This was a high-scoring match for Middlesex, who achieved 621, their highest score of the season. AW Carr (Notts) and EH Hendren (Middx) both reached 1,000 first class runs in the season during this match.
