Overview
D J Church's exciting film shows Horley Cricket Club take on the might of the County's first XI team. A poster gives details of the match as we see county player, Rupert Webb, in what was his final year with Sussex CC, walking towards the pavilion. Spectators sit in deckchairs and enjoy the match which goes on into the late afternoon. Watch out for the father carrying his small child off the pitch during the height of play.
Rupert Webb played first-class cricket for Sussex from 1948 to 1960, the year this film was made. For much of that time he was the club's regular wicketkeeper and eventually played in 255 first-class cricket matches.
