Overview

The Walker Brothers appear TV programme Move Over Dad when they appear at the ABC cinema in Plymouth in Devon. The US trio of Scott Engel, John Maus and Gary Leeds formed in Los Angeles in 1964 and are famous for their rendition of Burt Bacharach and Hal David's ballad Make It Easy On Yourself. The single hit the top of the British charts in September 1965 and comes from their debut album Take It Easy With The Walker Brothers. They have sold over 20 million records.

Billed on the poster as The Fabulous Walker Brothers, Scott Walker’s deep baritone voice hit a chord with UK audiences while in America Make It Easy On Yourself only reached number sixteen in the US Billboard Chart. Scott Walker remains an enigma. He turned solo in the late sixties and gave his last concert in 1978 and a final interview in 1984 before disappearing from media attention until a comeback in the nineties with a total reinvention of musical style. The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore in 1966 was their follow-up hit. John Walker continued to make music and tour until his death in 2011 in Los Angeles and together with Gary Walker penned a book No Regrets: Our Story.
