Workers at Carr's Biscuit Works, Carlisle (1901)
Royal Warrant biscuit-makers released after their shift.
Overview
Filmed on a gloomy November day, the young factory lads from Carr’s seem unusually determined to draw attention to themselves by grinning and waving cheerily at the camera. A local newspaper advert promoting the film as "a picture never before seen in Carlisle" reveals that it was shown a few days after shooting at Algie's Circus, a static circus venue on Carlisle's Botchergate.
