City of Bristol Coronation Celebrations 1953
It's a right Royal knees-up! Austerity is forgotten as Bristol breaks out the bunting for some gloriously colourful coronation celebrations.
Overview
Post-war austerity is all but forgotten as Bristol's parks, buildings and thoroughfares break out in a Coronation fever of red, white and blue. The formal celebrations take place around the Cathedral and City Hall, but the real fun begins at the city's street parties. Here neighbours vie for the coveted prize of best-decorated street - and the judges definitely have a tough decision on their hands!
