Theatrical shenanigans in London's West End as thespians celebrate a Twelfth Night tradition.

Non-Fiction 1928 2 mins Silent

Overview

This fun and frivolous newsreel item shows the bright young things of London's 1920s theatreland perform a 200-year-old Twelfth Night tradition. A knees-up of cake and wine was bequeathed to the company of Drury Lane's Theatre Royal by 18th century actor Robert Baddeley and is still observed every January 6th. Fresh from the stage, the cast quaff their victuals with typically theatrical flair.
