Countess Dracula
An ageing countess finds that if she bathes in the blood of virgins her youth is restored.
Director: Peter Sasdy
Overview
Public decency is breached with laudable regularity in Hammer Horror's 1971 tale, based on the legend of Elizabeth BΓ‘thory. Ingrid Pitt plays the widowed countess rejuvenated by virgins' blood, and Nigel Green her accomplice and lover, Captain Dobi. Indignity is a theme and, for Pitt, a reality: her role was dubbed, and she never spoke to director Peter Sasdy again.
