The Orchard End Murder 18 rating

An old house near a remote, rural railway station provides the setting for this grisly tale of terror set in 1960s England.

        Crime 1982 50 mins

        Director: Christian Marnham

        Overview

A girl fleeing a dismal date with her cricket player boyfriend finds her troubles have only just begun when she stumbles across a strange old man and his collection of garden gnomes. He and his somewhat disturbed housemate live in a remote station cottage deep in the English countryside, where a succession of grim and grisly horrors ensue in this darkly disturbing terror-tale.

The Orchard End Murder was described in an accompanying press release as a "chiller set in the fecund Kent countryside. A macabre tale of a bizarre encounter between a cunning hunchback, a demented giant, a naughty little red riding hood from suburbia – and death." This strange short supporting feature opened on 1 November 1981 at 50 cinemas in the ABC chain in the North East of England.
