Motorway through the Lune Valley
Bringing the motorway to Cumbria's Lune Valley, whether it likes it or not.
Overview
The prospect of grinding six lanes of smooth tarmac through some of Britain's most remote and rugged landscapes is daunting for conservationists and highway engineers alike, if not for the same reasons. This promotional film documents the building of a stretch of the M6 motorway through southern Cumbria from the perspective of the principal contractors, John Laing & Son, offering some surprising insights into the roving life of those who built our roads.
