'Spurs' Captain Marries
Watford hosts the lowkey wedding of Tottenham and England captain, Arthur Grimsdell.
From the collection of:

Overview
Arthur Grimsdell, born in Watford, played centre-half for Tottenham Hotspur and England and captained both during a lengthy career. He also played cricket at first class level and was a minor sporting celebrity of the 1920s. Here, he rather sheepishly poses for the cameras despite being covered in confetti with his more animated new wife, Gwendolene Adcock, who grins from beneath a rather fetching hat.
